1.Overview
This micro-credential equips learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to understand and apply reo (language), tikanga (customs), and kawa (ceremonial practices) in the context of communication, exploring how these elements create, nurture, and sustain quality relationships in both personal and professional settings.
2.Project Outcomes
Outline the events and characters of te tīmatanga o te ao, and apply whakapapa and whanaungatanga in both informal and formal Iwi/Māori social service processes.
Explain the importance of te reo Māori when working with whānau, hapū, and iwi communities, and use te reo Māori in an Iwi/Māori social service setting.
Gather, organise, and record whakapapa information on behalf of another person or whānau.

We'll assess your prior NZQA achievements to see if you're eligible for credit transfer. If you believe you've met competency outside NZQA unit standards, speak with WaiTech's Registrar to check your eligibility.
