1.Overview

Protecting and reinforcing the mauri, mana, and tapu of whānau in Iwi/Māori social services.

This micro-credential builds the knowledge and competencies to plan, facilitate, implement, and evaluate social service initiatives that promote the welfare and wellbeing of whānau, including the cultural competence that role demands.

Manage referrals, co-ordinate planning, and organise welcome and hospitality for a family meeting or whānau hui.

2 Disputes resolution

Assess suitability, convene, and contribute to the opening, process, and closure of a disputes resolution hui.

3 At-risk intervention

Identify triggers and at-risk behaviours for Māori, and present a case study covering triggers, behaviours, and intervention strategies.

4 Advocacy

Analyse, plan, implement, and evaluate a course of action for advocacy in social service work.

5 Protection planning

Develop, facilitate, and close a protection or safety plan in social service work involving abuse, neglect, or violence.
